Here's out little Tiger, ooops I mean Phil, at the driving range last weekend. He is now telling us he wants his own REAL golf clubs WITH a golf bag for his birthday, AND he wants to go back to the driving range/batting cages for his birthday! This boy is definately headed for the pro athlete life :) It's a littlw scary what this child can watch someone do and turn right around and mimic! So here's some shots and a video of his swing to make his granddad proud!

Well, January, February and March seem to have already flown by us! We were busy celebrating the Saints big win, taking a trip to NOLA and spending lots of time with Grammy and Grampy, seeing my parent's oldest and bestest friends from Minnesota in Longboat Key, taking a trip to the state fair, a couple trips to the zoo, celebrating my birthday with a Harry Connick concert with my awesome husband, a couple trips to the zoo.......... and WHEW! that's enough! And now it is Easter and we are finally getting our usual summer weather here. I will post some new pics of all the happenings over the next day or two......

Needless to say, we were so excited to see the Saints beat the Cardinals last weekend and we are planning for a Super Bowl party here! Austin's favorite new thing to run around saying is "WHO DAT?!". And for some reason when we were watching the game with him the name "SHOCKEY" appealed to him, so that's his favorite player now (minus Tim Tebow of course) and he loves to say it with much enthusiasm! Grammy got us some saints gear for Christmas so hears Austin sporting it all.........

After a crazy holiday season, we are back and just celebrated John's thirtysomething-ish birthday this past weekend. We had a really good day for a really great daddy :) Minus some rain that spoiled some steak grilling! Austin kept telling John really sweetly the whole day, "happy birthday dada!" We spent the morning playing putt putt and hitting balls at the batting cages and the driving range, watched the Saints whip the Cardinals, and then had a special dinner and cake at home. Perfect day for dad- We love you!

Austin in the batting cages- you know he insisted on doing this even though John and I were sure he was going to get knocked out by one of these balls! They had a slow pitch softball cage and he actually really got the hang of it and hit some balls with his own tball bat he brought along.

This picture is for Granddad....He really loved hitting golf balls with dad on the driving range- he kept saying he was "whacking it!" They even gave him a real driver just his size to use. He will definately be taking his granddad back to this place when they come again for a visit :)

We drove up to John's parents' home in Georgia this year and had a great time enjoying lots of family and some really great weather! We spent thanksgiving day at John's cousins lake house and our last night there celebrated John's parents 50th wedding anniversary with a special family dinner. We actually got a lot of pics too, so here are a few............

These first two are my new favorite pictures of him........he was getting really tired that afternoon at the lakehouse and laid down on the swing to rest....so pretty with the leaves all around him.

Aunt Manda's Birthday........

Aunt Amanda's birthday (we will not disclose the year) was a couple weekends ago, so we all went up to Mark's house and he cooked a great dinner on the grill for us and his daughter Hannah made a huge birthday cake for Amanda that Austin talked about for days :) Mark has a baseball field right outside the entrance of his neighborhood so we all took Austin up there to hit some balls on the real field. We had a really great day with them........

We went up to Brooksville for the night last weekend to stay with my Aunt Sherrie, Uncle Axel, and cousin Gabi. We had a great time and it was a good quick little getaway for us- they have lots of animals and we finally got to meet Gabi's horse and see her ride. Austin LOVED playing with/chasing all their cats and dogs and giving them probably more than enough treats. They have lots of land for Austin to run, a playground AND a trampoline! It was really nice for Austin to be able to spend some time with them because even though they are not that far away, somehow we don't get to see each other much!

Austin really has become a good little helper around the house for John and I....let's just say it's another thing to keep this boy busy!! I made a chore chart for him, so he's been helping with setting the table, feeding bailey and the laundry- he has become my little assistant around the house!

Yesterday was Austin's first day of preschool- John and I can't believe that he is such a big boy now! He is going two mornings per week at a community church preschool right down the road from us. He did so great and really seemed to love it-last night he was asking us if he got to go back today! I spent my day yesterday trying to understand all the things he was trying to tell me about his new school!

We get a cable channel here called the Sprout Network and it's all little preschool shows/cartoons- so we usually watch the Goodnight Show for little bit in the evening time before bed with Austin. The host of the show is this lady named Nina and her friend Star the puppet......as you will see below Austin loves it and thinks Nina is his new girlfriend! ANYWAY, the Sprout channel hosted a party here for the kids this last weekend and we took Austin to see Nina. It was too funny to see all these little kids just enamored with her......:)

Our friends Cali and Jim and their two boys were so generous to invite us up for a little getaway in Destin in June. We had such a great time with them- we spent lots of time at the beach and pool and the boys did lots of playing together. It was so nice to spend time with all of them and we hope to do it again each year!

We cannot believe Austin is already 2! Our baby is now a big boy....to watch him change, grow, and learn so much really is amazing when John and I sit down and think about it. He loves to challenge his mama and dada these days beyond belief, but his hugs and smiles make it all worth it! We love you buddy!

Since his birthday was on a week day and dad had to work, Austin and I spent the morning at a little aquarium downtown here at the Pier and then had lunch at his favorite, Chick fil A....

We had a little dinner and cupcakes for him that night and Aunt Amanda, her boyfriend (!!!) Mr. Mark, and his daughter Hannah came over. Mark and Hannah brought Austin a pop up baseball tee, so you know my child LOVED that!

The main doctor at the eye center where John is working is the team doctor for the Tampa Bay Rays, so once in a while he gives his season ticket seats to the employees, so John got the tickets two sundays ago and we got to take Austin to see them play the Indians- a nice little job perk! Austin is completely into baseball so he L_O_V_E_D it and we actually made it all the way until the 7th inning....

Mother's Day

Hope all the mom's enjoyed their mother's day this year! John made me a delicious breakfast of homemade crepes and then he decided to tap into my creative side and take us on Sunday for a morning of painting our own pottery in Hyde Park....which was interesting for mom and dad with a 2 year old! We managed to finish a couple pieces and made it out without breaking anything too! :) That night we went to dinner at Cracker Barrel- for some reason I had been wanting to go there and I don't think I've been since my good ol' Hattiesburg days......I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE my husband for all the thought and effort he put into my mom's day and my little boy who loves to challenge his mama and be so darn cute!

I just realized I forgot to post our Easter weekend pics...We had a great weekend and I have lots of pictures to show for it! Saturday, we did an Easter egg hunt that was followed by a touch a truck event in this little artsy community south of us called Gulfport. Needless to say, Austin LOVED every truck- he is especially into the garbage truck and the mail truck :) Sunday, before church the Easter bunny left Austin his basket of goodies and a baseball tee....check it out!

So we have been potty training with Austin over the last week and all in all he has done really, really well! He seems to catch on to things really fast, so we have had very few accidents and he is now telling me when he has to go.....BUT, we are still a little freaked out about going #2 in the potty- we are working on that part though! Every time he goes on the potty, he gets an M&M so as you can imagine his new favorite word is M&M!!! Here are two pics of our proud little man in his new football undies.....

We were so happy to finally get a visit with John's parents at the end of March! Austin had a great time and loved getting to spend the whole weekend with his grandmother and granddad!

They brought Austin this great little rocker that he loves to sit in and rock. It is a family heirloom from Carolyn's side that they had refinished for Austin.

Since we haven't been able to really do anything fun for awhile since Austin has been sick, we thought we should head to the zoo for the day this past sunday so Austin could have some fun with his Dada before we leave him and head for New Orleans this week........

You can't see it in this pic, but to the right of the mama tiger was a glass window that put you right at the tigers' level....we went down and Austin stood right up at the glass, and one of the baby tigers came right up to Austin and looked straight at us and put his paws up on the glass like he wanted to play with Austin! Rays Fanfest

Valentine's Day we all headed out to to our baseball team's, the Rays, Fanfest. Needless to say it was our first big outing in what seems like forever! We had a great time and Austin really had a ball....we are ready for the season to start!

It was us and about 30,000 other fans at Tropicana Field....

My thirtysomething-ish birthday was this past week.....oh, another year! John cooked a great chicken picatta dinner for my sister and I, and the two of them got me cupcakes from this little cupcake bakery here instead of a cake & they were sooooo very good! John and Austin also got me a much needed massage for my gift- thank you and i love you so much!!

Been Sick.......

Austin has been sick with respiratory problems for, oooohhh, about a month now. we have spent about 80% of our time at the doctor's office, one trip to the ER and the remainder trapped inside! Anyone who knows Austin knows how the staying inside portion of that has been going! In the end the doctor diagnosed him with asthma- what a month it's been for mom and dad......!

John had his "thirtysomethingish" birthday last friday so I wanted to post some pics from the weekend....we had dinner, birthday cake (homemade i might add!), and presents (which i will also add Austin has become EXCELLENT at opening presents these days and VERY excited when they turn up) on friday. Then saturday morning we went to this great market they have each weekend here downtown, and actually found a great little cajun restaurant that had a booth set up. John and I were both excited to now have GOOD poboys in FL......Saturday night John and I actually got to have a real date- dinner AND a movie! We think it may have been 18 mos. since we did that! We saw Marley and Me, which I highly recommend to both parents and dog lovers- it may be a new favorite of ours. We had a great weekend together and Happy, Happy Birthday to my fabulous husband!! I love you! xoxoxo

We had our first visit with our good friends Leah and Ricky's new baby girl Jocelyn just a few weeks ago....she is so tiny and I just don't remember Austin being so small! This was Austin's first baby encounter and he did great- we kept telling him for a few days before they visited us that a baby was going to come to our house, so he picked up on the word "baby" and learned how to say it just to impress Jocelyn! Leah and Ricky are going to be such great parents, and Leah didn't even look tired (YET!!) Congrats to their new little family!

We are back into the swing of things and hope everyone had a wonderful holiday....My parents came down this year for a week and a half and we had a great visit with them and Asutin really enjoyed having Grammy and Grampy here for Christmas. So today I took Austin to see Santa at a little party our library had here. I figured it would be a good low key environment for his first time visiting Santa. Since we see Santa everywhere these days, Austin definately knew who he was when we got there and you could tell he was excited, but a little scared....he did really good- he didn't want to sit on his lap but he would stand next to him and give him a high five and take candy canes from Santa's bag! Austin also showed off to santa he knows how to say "ho ho ho!".....needless to say Santa was VERY impressed!

I had lots of christmas sprinkles so I got some sugar cookie dough and let Austin go to town decorating this morning......

Going back through some pictures and found some I wanted to post....Due to the Tampa Bay Rays going to the world series this year, everybody here had baseball fever! We got the chance to go to a couple of games, a rally for the team downtown, and John and Aunt Amanda took Austin to his first baseball game....we can't wait for next season-- go rays!!!

We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday! We had a great day here with lots of guests at our house for dinner....we spent the day with my brother in law, Mark and his daughter Olivia, our friends Chris & Katia and their son Tyler, Katia's parents visiting from France, and of course Aunt Amanda. It was a really beautiful day yesterday so we enjoyed our dinner outside on the deck and John smoked a really, really good turkey on the big green egg. Here are a few pics......

LA Visit-Part Two

My parents got Austin a blow up pool in their backyard and Austin is a little fish, so we spent lots of time in that pool! We also got to have a couple visits with our family friends the Fingletons- it was the first time Beth and her two kids, Madison and Chase, met Austin and Madison and Austin are a few months apart so it was funny to see them interact. Madison is too cute!

August LA Visit- Part One Aquarium

In August, Austin and I left Florida behind and went to spend about a week and a half at my parent's house in Louisiana. So here we are back to the blogging world, and we are going to make a true effort to stick with it! Austin seems to be growing up so fast and we don't want anyone to miss it! Things have been crazy here it seems for months now, with lots of things going on and changes our family has been making. I was going through some pics from the last few months and wanted to make some posts to get everyone up to date, so here it goes.........these are from a pudding painting run I did with Austin a while back- he thought it was great as you can tell by the pictures and anyone who knows my child and me, knows I just closed my eyes and let him have at it!

My friend Cali and her son Luke were in town from Louisiana for a couple quick days this week, so Austin and I got to spend the afternoon with them Friday. We took them to the childrens museum- which was sweaty and HOT, of course the boys did not care but the moms did- and did lunch... We didn't get too many pics, but here are a few:

Austin and I went and checked out a new park close to our house this morning- him and dad had already scoped it out one day and said it was pretty neat so I decided to take Austin again....It's a great shady park that is on the water and the absolute best part (according to my son!) is the little flower garden with fountains across the street!

Well it really wasn't a big party....but we wanted to celebrate with our families so we waited until we were on vacation with everyone in Grayton to throw an actual birthday party for Austin. We had a great time, lots of good cake, and were so happy to be able to spend Austin's "big day" with everyone!

We had a baseball themed party for Austin complete with his own (not so little!) cake!

Grayton Beach Vacation

Well, we are just getting back from our weeklong (not long enough!!) Grayton Beach vacation and getting back into the swing of things....My parents and my sister, John's sister's and brother's family all joined us- John's parent's were greatly missed due to a last minute medical emergency. We had a great time spending the week lounging on the beach, swimming, riding bikes, and having lots of great homecooked meals! We love the relaxed, laid back atmosphere up there and hope to live there one day!!

We spent lots of time at the community pool on our little street with Austin- they had a shower to rinse off sand before you got in to swim and Austin thought it was so funny to rinse off under the faucet. When he got out of the pool, he'd walk right over to it for someone to turn it on for him!

Austin turns ONE!!

Austin turned one year old earlier this month on the 12th....John and I can't believe a year has gone by already! What a big boy we have to love now! It is so fascinating and funny to watch him each day and all the things he can do now--he certainly keeps us busy chasing him around all day!

We celebrated with Aunt Mandy at home that day and waited until vacation for his party with all of our family....in short he wanted absolutlely nothing to do with the little cake we had for him- it actually made him cry! We spent the day at the pool having fun and he got some great gifts from everyone-thank you! You'll see below- John and I got him a radio flyer wagon.......

Before we left on vacation, our friends Leah and Ricky invited us over - along with the Woods family- to her parent's house for swimming and a BBQ. We had a great time hanging out with everyone and Austin loved swimming and running around with Tyler on the porch.

We had just turned Austin's carseat forward facing, so the ride to Leah and Ricky's was his first facing front- he sure loves being able to see the world go by this way!

What's in here? Austin sure knew where to find the good drinks!

We are back from our vacation so I will try to catch up with posts and pictures to fill everybody in over the next few days................

We finished our parent- child swim lessons a couple of weeks ago and brought our camera to the last lesson to take a video, and of course the batteries died.....so this is the only pic we ended up getting of Austin's "graduation"!

Zoo Day

We went for our second trip to the zoo a couple weekends ago and took my sister along with us. It was hot, sweaty and very crowded but we had a great time! Austin seems to love the zoo so we will be making many trips there in the future.....

This was probably john and austin's favorite part of the day- the sting ray pool where you can "pet" them and feed them. Austin loved this and was so good at putting his little hand in and waiting for them all to swim over to him....

We hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day. It was my first, so i definantly enjoyed it! John took all of us (including bailey) to Honeymoon Island for a morning at the beach which was really nice. He also made me a great homecooked breakfast and dinner. What a great husband and kids I have! Thank you- I had a fun day!!

And so the GIANT toys taking over our house begins.....We recently bought Autin this inflatble ball pit/clubhouse for outside. He loves to be outside and he hasn't quite hit walking yet and we didn't want him crawling around on our deck or finding dog poop in the yard, so we purchased this thing! He likes playing with his toys in there and loves it when you fill it up with the balls.

Crawfish Festival

This past Sunday my sister, John and I took Austin downtown to the Crawfish festival here. We had and great time and it was a beautiful day.....we loaded up on cajun food, enjoyed the music, and the water!

John took Austin for his 2nd haircut last week before we have some pictures made this week. He must have got his dad's gene on that one, because he just had his first haircut in January and he was looking pretty shaggy as you can tell from recent pics. It didn't go as well as the first cut I'm told, but here he is after a nap and some lunch- all was good!

Yes, this was one of the highlights of our weekend.....it was a rainy saturday so we decided to take austin to our baseball team's (tampa rays)fan fest, AND that is where he got to meet the chick-fil-a cow!!! This past weekend we went to Austin's first birthday party for our friends Chris and Katia's son Tyler's second birthday. It was at a really nice playground in their neighborhood and Austin had a great time swinging on the swing and going down the slide and most of all, watching the other kids. We also have to say happy second birthday to Cali and Jim's son, Luke!

Ok, so I am REALLY bad at finding time to keep up with the blog lately!!! I will try to do better.....So here is a rundown of what's been going on with us in the last 2 months.....john had a birthday, i had a birthday, austin got his first haircut, we all went to my parent's house for mardi gras, AND austin has two new teeth, is crawling like a mad man and will not surprise us when he's walking in a month! Here's quite a few pics below to recap everything- enjoy!
